“Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you anywhere.” Albert Einstein
One of the things I love about books, whether reading or writing them, is they transport you out of your day-to-day life and into another place. Whether it’s another time period like Tudor era England and Henry VIII’s court, the battling alongside Katnis in the Capitol of Panem, or on a broomstick soaring around Hogwarts castle. You can be a warrior or a witch or a ruler.
These escapes can be therapeutic. When I’m having a bad day, I crawl into a book and can forget my worries. Or, I read about a situation and it puts my life in perspective. That man who told me I should be scrubbing floors instead of answering phones at work is no big deal compared to being in the Arena or being chased by a T-Rex in Jurassic Park.
I’ve always leaned more toward the imaginative. I often tease my husband when he states something obvious and logical, especially when it proves me wrong on something we’re discussing. But, I think that my overactive imagination helps my writing, especially in the genre of urban fantasy.
What about you? Are you more logical or imaginative or a blend of both? What do you write or love to read?
