My primary project is my Witches of Coolersville series. I have 4 books nearing completion and one being outlined and drafted at the same time. The series begins with 18 year old Tara Kavanagh. Shortly after graduation, she moves to the small town of Coolersville to spend the summer with her grandmother and get ready for her first year of college. Through a series of events, she discovers she’s a witch. And hijinks ensue!
There is also my Vella Serial Project! “Misadventures of a Mom Author” My first official published work! I had the idea to publish a chronicle of my writing process. I started writing in January of 2021, with the intent to publish… sometime.
Then, in late spring, I heard about Kindle Vella, which is Amazon’s serialized book platform. I thought this would be perfect for that format. So, I quickly typed up my entries from my little journal book, made sure each “episode” was in the word count range, and started scheduling. Granted, nobody knew exactly when this would go live but many of my author friends were excited and we were all working on various projects to publish. On July 13, 2021, the platform went live so now you can read all of my ups and downs as I work toward publishing my series and juggle all of the life things. I’m having a lot of fun writing it and I hope readers enjoy. Unlimited Story YouTube channel was kind enough to review my project in their “Less Popular Projects” series. One More Day: A short story– Written originally for an assignment in a college creative writing class. I’ve edited it a few times over the years before finally uploading it for Kindle in 2018. The prompt for the story was “What if you could spend one day with someone you lost.” Not long before I took this class, my paternal grandmother had passed away. One of the things she always talked about how much she wished she could have had the chance to travel to Hawaii. So, that is what I wrote about. It was a very therapeutic experience, as with a lot of my writing. And, I hope other people enjoy it as well.
I’ve been working on this book series since 2014. Some of the characters have been in my head for more than years so I know them really well. They’re like a part of me. This comes from a lot of online RPGs and playing around in short stories. I also have an insanely in depth character profiles in my series manual.
Witches of Coolersville Series:
Book 1- Witches of Coolersville:
The long awaited debut novel. Releasing first through Kindle Vella Spring/Summer of 2022 and then in a full version everywhere and all formats, including physical copies some time late 2022/possibly early 2023
But, what is it about? The story introduces my 3 witches. Tara Kavanagh, her grandmother, Caitlin, and her friend, Marissa. Each story in this series will either entirely focus on one or another or all 3 to various degrees.
Tara moves to the small central Ohio town of Coolersville to live with her grandmother before she starts her freshman year of college. A mysterious illness strikes the town around the same time she discovers she is a hereditary witch. She’s given a choice as to whether or not to accept this gift.
There’s romance, magic, and mystery and I really think people will like this start to my series. I’d call it a mash-up of Buffy, Charmed, and Harry Potter. All of these are heavy influences on what and how I write.
Release Date- Summer/Fall 2022
Book 2- New Witch On Campus: Tara and Marissa head off to college! But, they find out it’s not the fun adventure they had hoped for. Kids are going missing, and it’s been covered up for months. Is there a supernatural reason behind it? Can they solve this mystery before more kids get hurt? Can they juggle their academics with their magical studies without being discovered? And, when an old friend appears, and new feelings arise, will Tara lose the boy she cares for?
Book 3- Something Wicked (working title): It’s Halloween in Coolersville! Marissa’s favorite time of the year. There’s day-long trick-or-treating and a massive party the whole town takes part in. But, then spookiness ensues! Can Marissa and her friends save their town?
Book 4- Untitled: Christmas in Coolersville! And, the members of the Kavanagh Clan are gathering to celebrate together for the first time in… a very long time.
