Favorite YouTube Channels of 2020

Hello!

It’s December. 2020 is almost over. FINALLY! So, the time has come to look back on some positives of the year. In this post, I’ll be highlighting my favorite YouTube channels I found in 2020. And, boy have there been a lot of them! But, what else are you going to do when in lockdown?

Most of these are AuthorTube channels. The AuthorTube community really came together this year. So many people host livestreams on their channels so we can all come together to work. They share advice, gush about books, support other authors. When the rest of the world seems to be splitting apart, this has been a wonderful change. These are listed in no particular order. The channel or creator names are the links with a brief description to follow.

I only listed 10 otherwise this post would be fifty miles long. But, if you want me to do a follow-up, I will definitely add more.

Writing Mom, Samantha L. Nasset: Sam is a writing friend from a Discord server we’re both members of. She’s a writer and a mom so her channel focuses on those things. She talks about writing things and trying to balance it with parent life, being a mom with 3 kids. She also hosts livestreams on Mondays. I’ve been a guest host on a couple of them and they’re always a fun time.

Charlie Dorsett: Charlie is someone I recently subscribed to so I haven’t caught most of their videos. But, I do attend livestreams when I’m able to. I like when Charlie hosts livestreams because they can go for hours and hours. So, even if I come in late, I can take part in the conversation and writing sprints.

T.M. Sparrow, writer and homeschooling mom: T.M. is another AuthorTube Momma. She’s a fantasy writer. She covers writing, mythology, author mom life. She’s a super sweetheart, too. I look forward to her videos every week.

Sako Tumi: Sako is an author and a witch and a graphic designer. She’s also a total doll. I was watching a livestream she was a guest on and so I had to subscribe and check out her videos. She livestreams a lot and also does discussions on witchcraft and writing.

Lisa M. Lilly: Host of the podcast, “Buffy and the Art of Story.” Her YouTube channel is just another place for her podcast which I LOVE so much! “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” basically dominated my teen years. So, to find a podcast that allows me to relive all the best moments and breaks down the storytelling is just all the things I love in one place.

Savy Writes Books: Savy is another 2020 discovery channel. She hosts the AuthorTube sleepover on Wednesdays. I can sometimes make them if I have the energy. She writes children’s books about rescue dogs that are super adorable. She also has content about anti-multi-level-marketing and is a huge supporter of other small business owners and indie authors.

Jenna Moreci: I’ve actually been subscribed to Jenna for years but I had to list her channel. She just released her 3rd book, 2nd in a series, in September. It’s a dark romantic fantasy and it is AMAZING! Jenna gives writing advice on her channel. She’s funny and snarky and brilliant. I love her business videos. That’s a very important aspect of being an author. Yes, it is a business. But, there’s not enough content about that part of being an author. She also has an adorable little dog who makes appearances in her videos.

Next Level Authors Podcast: Next Level Authors is a podcast by Sacha Black and Daniel Wilcocks. I’m subscribed to them on iTunes but they release the video feed on YouTube and it’s so much fun to watch. They’re a hilarious pair and you can tell they’re really good friends. They dig at each other while also being supportive. I like this podcast because it’s for writers who are past the basics. You’ve been writing for a while and want to take it to the next level in your career. They post on Tuesdays

Carrow Brown: I recently subscribed to Carrow’s channel. I catch her livestreams when I can. She also does tarot card videos which is really interesting.

CB Ferrenz: I know CB from a Discord server and she’s relatively new to YouTube, just starting her channel this year. She’s a college student and a writer so she focuses her content on that. She puts plenty of humor in her videos and I’m excited to see what else she comes out with.

Okay! Those are 10 of my favorite channels. If you want more, I will do a second/third/beyond post. Just let me know!

Have a good week!
