Current Podcast I Love

I am subscribed to many podcasts. Sometimes, the only way I can listen is to binge a ton of episodes until I’m caught up. This may mean listening to years worth every time I’m in the car. It was one of the things that made my commute to the NICU a bit more tolerable. A 45 minute drive listening to a podcast. I could easily get an episode, sometimes 2 depending on length, in each direction. It kept my brain going, I guess. In a different way than listening to music. It’s hard to explain.

I continued listening after Anna came home because of the many doctor appointments she’d had in her first several months. And most of them still being downtown. I also have about a 40 minute commute to work (depending on traffic) or my favorite branch of the library with the beautiful writers center.

My current binge is The Write Now Podcast by the ever sweet Sarah Werner. I’ll link her website here so you can check out everything in one place. This is technically 2 podcasts in the same feed. “Write Now” is her solo show where she talks about writing and books and the constant search for balance between work, life, and your creative passion. “Coffee Break” is an interview show. She has wonderful guests like Joanna Penn from the “Creative Penn” podcast and Grant Faulkner who is one of the founders of NaNoWriMo! I’ve learned so much and she’s really helped me get motivated again to write.

Sarah is just an all around sweetheart. Small world, we went to school together! For a few years, anyway. But, I was browsing writing podcasts a couple years ago and I came across this particular one. I saw her name and thought, “Huh. I went to school with a Sarah Werner. Wonder if this is the same girl.” Looked her up and sure enough! So, I sent her a Facebook message and joined the group associated with her podcast. It’s taken me far too long to get to listen to the podcast itself so I’m very far behind. Still listening to episodes from 2016 so I have some catching up to do. But, the episodes aren’t usually much more than 30 minutes or so.

I highly encourage you to give this podcast a listen. You’ll learn a lot and Sarah’s encouragement will help you get back to whatever creative project you want to work on. It doesn’t have to apply just to writers. If you make jewelry or sew or paint. We all struggle finding time to balance doing what we love with “adulting.” We may have kids, a hectic job, church obligations, care for a family member. But, if you’re able to get in 30 minutes, that’s better than nothing at all.

Let me know what you think of this podcast. I’ll have more recommendations coming soon. Have a great week!
